Coaches
We need you! Come get the best training on the island! We want to provide our coaches with the tools they need to have a fun and successful season. We have partnered with Brad Weinmeyer (a previous US college player and premier baseball coach) plus the Victoria Mariners Premier League baseball association to provide up to 9 hours of FREE pre-season training for you. We want coaches to get hands-on training to learn how to develop your team’s core skills in a fun and positive atmosphere. This will give you the tools to make practices and games more exciting no matter what the age!
Players
We need your help to participate in the drills! Our coaches can learn best by hands-on experience. The drills will be fast paced, exciting and fun! You will be run through stations designed by coaches who understand and have played the game at a higher level. Limited spaces are available for each age group so please register early!
Parents
Our Little League believes kids learn better when they are having fun. We want to make sure everyone learns the core skills to this great game of baseball. By partnering with Batter’s Box and the Victoria Mariners we are all dedicating ourselves to teaching our coaches & players. But we don’t end training in the pre-season. We plan to hold in-season player jamborees, pitching clinics plus coach and parent clinics so everyone can work together to make baseball more enjoyable. This way everyone wins!
SIGN UP EARLY! SPACES ARE LIMITED! COACHES AND PLAYERS NEED TO PRE-REGISTER.
Please email us at president@cslittleleague.com . Clinics will be held at the Panorama Rec Centre Indoor Tennis Courts.
CSLL 8-10 tournament team wins at Nanaimo
It was another great outing by our 8-10 tournament team as they won at the 2016 Nanaimo Pirates All-star Summer Smash tournament this past weekend. Twelve teams competed from Nanaimo, Comox, Cloverdale, Campbell River, Seattle, White Rock, Oceanside, Lakehill, Richmond and Central Saanich.
Our team went 3-0 in round robin play finishing 2nd in pool play. They overcame White Rock, Seattle and Lakehill clubs. It was off to the semi-finals against Nanaimo. After a convincing 8-1 win there they settled in for the final against White Rock. Our boys won the final game by a score of 9-3.
They pitched all 10 of their eligible pitchers throughout the tournament. That type of teaching combined with strong batting and defence goes to show that our development program is working. We want to teach the game as fast-paced, simple and fun. That keeps the kids coming back. Then we can use those techniques to include skill based lessons….repetitions and muscle memory.
Great work everyone!
Intermediate team wins at Provincials..off to Canadians! Almost missed it.
Only 5 months ago our district was trying to decide if we should expand and start offering baseball programs to players over 12 yrs old again. It had been gone since the late 90’s after leagues pulled out of the Babe Ruth program. It was a rocky start in February but we managed to get 4 Little Leagues in Victoria to step up and take a chance.
The season went well with games being played at Hampton and Central Saanich fields. We even made a trip to Langley to play their Junior teams. We hosted them here too with Lakehill and Central Saanich teams. We all played baseball, hosted a free bbq for each other and felt what we call that Little League community spirit. We made some new friends and understood that no matter where we come from the kids are all the same.
Fast forward to June and we begin selections for a tournament team. Now the district didn’t have many Intermediate players who were not playing on the 11/12 tournament teams already but we decided to hold a district assessment anyways and see what we had. Those willing to dedicate themselves to traveling to play Provincials in Langley and possibly beyond? We selected a manager and coaching staff, held assessments and then started practicing. Only a few weeks until provincials. The opposition had a combined team in Vancouver covering off all of District 3 (Fraser Valley). There are some great ball players there. This wasn’t going to be easy.
Our district team is made up of players from Central Saanich, Hampton and Beacon Hill. They are some great kids who absolutely love baseball. Everyone has something to bring to the team. The big unknown was could we compete with Vancouver? This is our first year in this division.
It’s Friday July 8th at 630pm. We’ve won the coin toss to be home team. We start the game with 7 runs in the first inning. Whew…that takes some pressure off. Our boys played well but there were definitely some butterflies in everyone’s stomachs. Both teams were playing hard and there were a few errors. It was the bottom of the 7th inning. The game was tied 11-11. Fraser Valley had come back. Our boys stepped up the bats and pulled out a win of 12-11 to go ahead one game. But hold on…we needed another.
Game two…Saturday July 9th at 1pm. We are visitors. Doesn’t matter. Just get up to bat and make them have to catch up right? Our team went up 9-6 after 6.5 innings. Now all we had to do was shut the door. And that’s what they did. They pulled out a win and took the provincial title for the Intermediate division!
Now our boys are off to Calgary to play in the Canadians. It’s the first time since the late 90’s that a team (in baseball) from the island has gone to nationals. It’s an exciting time for baseball in Little League! And to think…we almost missed it in February.
PS – Victoria Little League will have a Junior division next year too. That allows our 13-14 yr old players to be involved in that community spirit. We already have commitments from Langley, New Westminister, Coquitlam and more to play our teams both here and there. It’s going to be some great ball and some great fun!

CSLL Intermediates travel to Langley
For the first time in anyone’s recollection a team from Central Saanich travelled to another district to play exhibition baseball. It was an amazing day of great baseball and making new friends. Langley were fantastic hosts playing both a double header with CS and a game with a Lakehill team. They even fed us too! Thanks Langley Baseball for hosting our team! We look forward to this weekend when you visit our park. Games are at 3pm and 530pm at Alexander field (D6) in Centennial Park.
